Fudge Brownies with Hershey's Chocolate Spread

I recently had the opportunity to try the new line of chocolate spreads by Hershey's.  They're available in three flavors: Chocolate, Hazelnut and Almond.  Since I'm allergic to nuts, I was happy to receive the Chocolate one to try.

I thought it would be fun to bake with it.  I've seen many recipes that use Nutella, a similar hazelnut spread.  I thought it would be interesting to take one of those recipes and substitute the Hershey's Chocolate spread.  I had a craving for brownies and decided to use Buns In My Oven's Nutella Brownies recipe and make some Chocolate Fudge Brownies.

The recipe is pretty simple to make and I had everything I needed, already in the fridge and pantry -- including my favorite, Hershey's Mini Kisses!

The brownies are really fudgey and rich.  Pour yourself a nice, tall glass of milk or a cup of coffee to go along with the brownies.  They're so good!  Enjoy!

Chocolate Fudge Brownies
(adapted from Buns In My Oven)

Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup Hershey's Chocolate Spread (can substitute any of the Hershey's Spreads flavors)
4 large eggs
1 1/4 cups cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
10 oz package of Hershey's Mini Kisses (or regular chocolate chips)

Directions
1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
2.  In a small saucepan over low heat, melt butter completely.  Stir in sugar and continue cooking for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.  Do not allow the sugar mixture to boil.
3.  Remove from heat and stir in the Hershey's Chocolate Spread until well combined.
4.  Pour the butter mixture into a large bowl or stand mixer.  Beat in cocoa powder, eggs, salt, baking powder and vanilla extract.  Mix until well combined.
5.  Stir in flour and Hershey's Mini Kisses until just combined.
6.  Spread into prepared pan.  Batter will be very thick and sticky.  Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.  The edges should be set and the center should still look slightly moist, but not uncooked.
7.  Cool on a wire rack.

Disclosure: I received a free jar of Hershey's Chocolate Spread from Crowdtap.  No further compensation was provided.
